About the Item
A set of 2 candle holders, a pair of elegant and pure sterling silver large antique hallmarked three light candelabra in the late 19th-century taste.
These fine candelabra have shaped circle bases and fluted stems. All the nozzles are fully detachable to assist in cleaning.
The branches terminate in faceted spool-shaped sockets with a detachable nozzle. There is a further central socket with an alternate detachable finial and nozzle, which can turn the candelabra into a two-light. The branches pull off and one can use them as candlesticks alone.
The candelabra are created in Britain and hallmarked of the Martin Hall
Co, on the bases, branches, nozzles and finials. The bases are filled with the original green velvet inserts.
A very high-quality pair and they have the benefit of being three-light (whereas the majority of candelabra are two-light).
In 1854 entered into the partnership Richard Martin (of Martin Brothers
Naylor) .
The factory was active at Shrewsbury Works, Broad Street Park, Sheffield with showrooms in London (where they were listed as manufacturing silversmiths and electroplated manufacturers, silver, plated and steel cutlers), Sydney, Birmingham and Glasgow.
