About the Item
This handcrafted bronze candelabra celebrates the quiet elegance and harmony of Africa’s wildlife. Each piece is entirely original — no moulds are used at any stage. Every giraffe and decorative element is individually wax-modelled by hand, ensuring that each candelabra is truly one of a kind, with its own subtle variations in form, texture, and expression. The organic, tree-like arms rise gracefully to support three candles, their branches adorned with delicately sculpted bronze leaves that mirror the rhythms of nature. Once cast, each candlestick is meticulously chased, polished, and patinated by hand, creating a rich surface alive with depth and character. Patinas may vary, enhancing the individuality of each piece and underscoring its authenticity as a handmade work of art — a timeless fusion of sculpture, craftsmanship, and natural beauty.
Handcrafted and original – Every bronze piece is a one-off edition. Many of the smaller, intricate details are individually wax-modelled by hand - without the use of molds - ensuring each work is completely unique. Similar pieces can be commissioned in different patinas, sizes or with alternative or similar motifs, and can also be made as a pair.
I am a self-taught South African artist whose work is inspired by Africa’s wildlife, landscapes, and people. My years as a safari guide gave me an intimate connection to the bush — a place that taught me everything I know about shape, form, and movement. You can’t sculpt what you don’t feel, and every moment spent observing wildlife offers a lesson in balance, grace, and presence.
I am drawn to bronze — an ancient material with a living surface that changes, deepens, and gains character over time, much like the landscapes and creatures that inspire me. Each patina adds its own mood and individuality, ensuring every piece carries its own quiet story.
My work ranges from bird, wildlife, figurative, abstract to African sculpture and bespoke sculptural furniture and lighting. Each piece is entirely handcrafted — sculpted, cast, chased, and patinated by me in my own foundry using the traditional lost-wax method.
Every creation reflects Africa’s beauty, strength, and spirit — enduring in material and authentic in character.
