About the Item

A high quality true pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu and white Carrara marble candelabras. This stunning true pair of four arm candelabras is raise on square marble bases with concave corners and a top concave edge borders. The sides of the base display an elegant intertwined circular Ormolu mount while the each corner has a decorative rosette. The circular fluted marble column above has a bottom reeded Ormolu band with a spiral berried laurel garland. The fluted column is also decorated by a richly chased floral garland with blossoming flowers. The garland is tied at both sides by a tied bow. One candelabra has a charming putti dressed in a swaging garment with one hand holding a nest of young birds while holding a bird in the other hand. The other candelabra has a the putti dressed the same with birds in one hand while the other hand seems to be waving to a baby bird on the ground. Both putti are standing in front of a vertical stem with with three scrolled arms, hanging fruits, and scrolled foliage. The three scrolled arms surround the central straight arm, with all four arms leading to the top circular saucers and palmette designed candle cups.
