About the Item
An Unusual Italian Brass Hanukkah lamp from the 18th century.
Hanukkah lamps unusual angular form is based on that of earlier lamps with a solid backplate and a seven-branch Menorah in the center.
This Hannukah lamp may be dated to the middle part of the eighteenth century based on the use of similar decorative elements in Italian decorative art items such as mirror frames and furniture inlay designs.
The backplate is formed in the shape of a royal arms symbol with openwork trefoiled sequences and designs throughout.
Eight circular oil containers with long tapering pointed spouts are attached to the lower part of the backplate.
