About the Item

This wrought iron chandelier was made by designer Jean Touret for his French company, Les Artisans de Marolles. The piece is rare and is part of Tourer's early work from the 1950's. The lighting element is designed to illuminate from candles placed on the corners of the top two tiers. The motif seems to be of people on safari, presumably in Africa as the animals displayed include elephants, giraffes, gazelle's, cranes, etc. When suspended, there is also a soft chime that can be heard coming from the bell at the top of the dome. The chandelier is comprised entirely from wrought iron and has a uniform patina consistent with age. It can be suspended or freestanding and is structurally sound not showing any signs of crumbling or missing elements. Dimensions: 14" W x 17. 25" D x 36" H
