19th Century Italian Pair of Antique Brass Altar Palmettes Pair of sumptuous decorative Baroque style lanceolate palm leaves in openwork repousse brass, dating back to the 19th century. The palms are an authentic testimony of 18th century sacred art. They were used during the Tridentine liturgy, generally during the Easter period. These embossed metal palms are extremely stylized bouquets of flowers. The brass palmettes are mounted as wall appliques with two candle holders. The condition is good. Wear commensurate with age and use. One loose candle holder is secured with wire. Measurements: H 30.5” x W 14” x D 3”
