A most impressive pair of French Napoleon III Second Empire Period Egyptian Revival style gessoed, gilded and polychrome painted wood and gilt metal foliate scroll arm nine light candle sconces. Hand-crafted in France, most likely Parisian work, circa 1870s, exceptionally executed sculptural form, very high quality, extremely impressive statement pieces Dimensions: (approx) 36" High, 22" Wide, 10.5" Deep (each) Provenance/Acquisition: Acquired from reputable auction house, Heritage Auctions, Dallas, Texas. Furniture Decorative Arts Signature Auction catalog Condition Report: Beautifully aged distressed patina, both examples are in good condition, with typical rubbing, wear and oxidation to the gilt surfaces, and some losses and wear to the gesso.
