About the Item

An exquisite pair of Russian 18th century Neo-Classical Period Ormolu and Crystal sconces. This exceptional and extremely decorative pair of sconces displays a 'D' shaped center with a pierced foliate scrolled band. The band supports the four double scrolled arms which end with a pierced saucer with hanging prisms all below the mottled candle cups. The fire gilded Ormolu central band is also decorated by similar Crystal prisms all below a tapered half round Crystal decorated bottom fut. Above are two elongated Ormolu handles flanking the attractive aqua marine colored fitted glass urn. The bottom of the glass urn is fitted within an Ormolu center displaying water flora while at the top is the same pierced Ormolu trim flanked by the two handles. Provenance: Originally from the estate of Prince and Princess Alexander Romanoff and most recent the New York estate of Maria Romanoff.
