About the Item

A refined pair of Louis XVI–style torchères, electrified for modern use and executed in bronze and composition, mounted on Sienna marble bases. Each torchère is designed as a classical fluted column rising to an elegant, multi-arm candelabrum-form crown with foliate candle cups, reflecting the restrained symmetry and decorative vocabulary of the Louis XVI period. The shafts are enriched with applied garlands and classical detailing, terminating in square tapering bases with relief ornament, all supported by richly veined Sienna marble plinths that add contrast and visual weight. The surfaces present a warm, time-softened patina consistent with quality decorative production. Possibly manufactured by Maitland Smith, known for their finely executed neoclassical revival lighting and decorative objects. These torchères offer strong architectural presence and function equally well as sculptural accents or ambient lighting elements.
