About the Item
Pair of Italian 800 silver candlesticks from the first half of the 19th century in Empire style.
The round base is characterized by the important acanthus leaf embossment on the lower part. The same smaller design is repeated on the upper part of the base.
Between the two embossments, a vertical striped embossment has been chiseled. The same chiseling has been repeated on the stem of the candlestick.
The candle holder repeats the same workmanship with acanthus leaves and stripes.
Made in Italy, Kingdom of Sardinia, in the city of Alexandria by the silversmith A.C.

These exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver candlesticks have a circular rounded form.
The plain cylindrical capital of each silver candlestick is plain and encircled with an applied moulded border to the rim.
The capitals retain the original hallmarked push fit sconces, ornamented to the rim with chased leaf decoration.
The waisted column of each candlestick is embellished with chased leaf decoration to a large compressed circular knop, in addition to leaf motifs enveloping the lower portion.
These impressive columns surmountcircular spreading bases, each ornamented with four large palmette style leaf designs, with further applied foliate decoration to the rim.
