About the Item
Dress a console, mantel, or vignette with this tall and sculptural Italian giltwood candlestick crafted around 1860. Executed in the Baroque style, the piece features an elegant, elongated baluster stem carved with swelling turned elements and resting on a sturdy triangular plinth. Each corner of the base is supported by boldly carved paw feet, an expressive detail commonly found in ecclesiastical furnishings of the period and one that adds both visual weight and architectural presence.
The original gilt surface remains warm and luminous, with a beautifully aged patina that speaks to its long devotional history. The top is fitted with its traditional iron pricket for securing a pillar candle. With its impressive height and commanding silhouette, this 19th-century candlestick brings drama, texture, and Old World character to any interior, from Tuscan-inspired spaces to more refined European settings.
In excellent condition commensurate with age and use, retaining the rich depth of its antique gilt finish.
