About the Item
On offer is a green-painted, cast metal Art Deco style candlestick. Reflecting this refined style’s interest in representing harmony with nature, the sculptural design includes a standing female nude figure with a deer, finished both front and back, within a shield-like frame.
The piece is attributed to the historic I.S. Spencer's Sons Foundry in Guilford, Connecticut. That foundry produced a wide range of cast-iron and brass products including, for the home, animal statues, as well as book ends and lamp pedestals.
