About the Item

Stunning and rare Art Deco large candlestick. Striking Dutch design from the 1930s. Solid padouk base with original patinated brass holder for the candle in top. At the front of the base, a stylish patinated brass phoenix. The phoenix animal spirit symbolizes hope, rebirth and transformation. The phoenix also has associations with several other symbols. All of these symbols represent different aspects of this mythical bird. The first symbol is fire. The phoenix can rise from the ashes, which represents the power of transformation. This wonderful Art Deco large candlestick is in very good original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.
