About the Item

Elevate your space with these striking Czechoslovakian mercury glass candlestick holders. Featuring a cobalt blue base and silvered accents, these pieces showcase the rich craftsmanship of 19th-century Bohemian design. The shimmering mercury finish creates a luminous interplay of color and light, while their elegant silhouette brings timeless sophistication. Perfect for adding a dramatic statement to your table or mantle, these candlesticks blend historic artistry with modern charm, making them a captivating addition to any decor. Mercury glass, or silvered glass, is double-walled glass coated between layers with a silvering solution of silver nitrate and grape sugar, then heated and sealed with metal discs or corks. Unlike mirrors, elemental mercury was never used. Originating around 1840, it was made in Bohemia (now the Czech Republic), Germany, and England (1849–1855), with production lasting until at least 1930. Measurements: 9 1/2" H x 10" Diameter, depression is 5" W across the middle. Czechoslovakia, 1930
