About the Item

Very rare Antonio da Ros for Cenedese vintage Italian yellow uranium Murano glass candlestick stand, holder or Candelabra made circa 1960s with red sommerso top for holding the candlestick . Utilizing two top Murano glass techniques - the 'Sommerso' (submerged), and the Murrina / Murrine technique (capturing multiple cuts of cane rods within the glass - in this case rods with a red centre and orange and blue outer layers/rings). This technique is one of the most time consuming and complex as the cane rods must first be made, then cut into small discs before laid out in the desired pattern, heated in the furnace before being fused. This large, heavy piece of glass - this is really a stunning centrepiece which captures the light beautifully and would make a wonderful conversation piece. A very rare piece of glass in collectors condition.
