About the Item
These early 20th century candlesticks are cast of bronze in the form of two Happy Buddhas standing on rectangle pedestal bases. Each Buddha holds a dish for taper candles overhead with Gold ingot. This common combination of motifs conveys a blessing for continuous Long-lasting wealth and success. Likely designed for a Western market or an example of European chinoiserie, the bronze candle stands charm with sculptural form and a beautifully aged dark patina.
