About the Item

This exceptionally beautiful and rare set of four Charles X–period candlesticks is a remarkable survivor of early 19th-century craftsmanship. Each piece features finely chased detailing on the base and candle holder, with a guilloché column shaft richly adorned with acanthus leaves and other elegant botanical motifs. The set remains in very good condition, displaying a refined, age-appropriate patina that enhances its authenticity and charm. Gilded candlesticks were among the most evocative lighting elements of the era. Their polished surfaces amplified the warm glow of candlelight, filling a room with a soft, golden radiance. Often placed near the user—such as at gaming tables specially designed with corner recesses—they also served as striking decorative accents on mantelpieces or consoles. While pairs of candlesticks were common, complete sets of four are genuinely rare, making this ensemble an exceptional opportunity for collectors and connoisseurs alike.
