About the Item

Add dramatic presence and liturgical elegance to any interior with this important pair of antique church candlesticks, crafted in France circa 1870. Each tall candle holder stands on a robust triangular plinth supported by three scrolled Louis XV feet, richly decorated with acanthus leaves and rocaille motifs. The bases are further embellished with repoussé medallions depicting God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Virgin Mary, each framed in ornate cartouches that highlight the devotional character of the pieces. Rising from the pedestal, the elongated baluster stems feature exuberant repoussé ornamentation inspired by grapes, vines, and foliage, symbols traditionally associated with Eucharistic imagery. The wide bobeches are shaped with scalloped edges and retain their original metal prickets for securing large altar candles. Presented with their wax candles, the candlesticks showcase a beautifully preserved silver-plated finish with soft patinated highlights that enhance their sculptural depth. Versatile in styling, they are ideal for a dining table, sideboard, mantel, or devotional setting. Dimensions: 8.5" W × 8.5" D × 27" H (35" H with candles).
