About the Item
A glorious pair of Italian giltwood altar candlesticks from the 1500’s; equally impressive is that this hand-carved pair have stayed together for over 400 years. Gold and silver gilt decorates the front of the candlesticks while the back sides are simply painted as they were meant to only be viewed from one perspective. The tips have a metal pricket to hold pillar candles. They would be fabulous on a fireplace mantel, buffet, or part of a tablescape. Patina consistent with age and use, be sure to view the detailed images to see the current condition. Sold as a pair.
