About the Item

A superb pair of early 19th C French empire bronze candlesticks. This very fine pair of early 19th century French candlesticks are ornately modelled in the Empire style. They stand raised on shaped and polished sienna marble plinths which are bolted from the underside to the three Grecian style lion's paw feet which raise and support the decorative columns with foliate collars and wreaths throughout their length and finally terminated in ornate candle holders. All the fine casting is hand finished with a chased detailing. Both are in very good condition and finish with a mid brown /green patination. Circa 1830. Dimensions: W 11 cm (4.3") x D 11 cm (4.3") x H 31 cm (12.2").
