About the Item

This pair of antique French candle holders, circa 1920, combines oak shafts with carved stone plinth bases, creating a striking architectural presence. Each piece is fitted with an iron drip pan and central pricket, designed to hold large pillar candles. The turned baluster oak retains a warm, rich patina, while the molded stone bases are detailed with rope-twist carving, lending both substance and style. Standing 29 inches high and 9.5 inches square, each weighs approximately 37 pounds, ensuring stability and presence. Their ecclesiastical Gothic Revival design recalls antique furnishings once found in churches and châteaux, giving them both spiritual resonance and architectural strength. Ideal for flanking a fireplace, entryway, or console, they bring timeless French craftsmanship into today’s interiors.
