About the Item

French 19th century (or earlier) forged iron carriers for a taper candle within a small cage. Extending from the rods at the top is a flat handle to safely lift this candlestick contraption and set it out on a table. A triangular, tripod base makes an elegant presentation and the simplicity of the form is part of the intrigue. Removed from its original context the piece could be adapted to many new uses around the home.
