About the Item

An elegant and most decorative pair of French 19th century Neo-Classical st. Ormolu and Crystal candlesticks. Each charming candlestick is raised on foliate Ormolu bun feet below a laurel band which holds the square Crystal base accented with a pierced foliate band at the rim. The bases showcase stunning star shaped cuts on the bottom below the stunning solid Crystal fut encased in a wrap around Ormolu mount of a classical dressed dancing maiden. Pierced foliate bands adorn the top and bottom of the fut, while the maidens at the center hold two crossed arrows and filling a chalice from a fluted amphora. A beaded and foliate designed band supports the richly chased sunflower shaped bobeche below the circular foliate candle cup with palmettes on top of an etched background.
