About the Item
A large pair of striking post-modern tessellated stone candlesticks by Marquis of Beverly Hills, circa 1980s. The black and white geometric sculptures resemble a post-modern abstract hourglass figure with the taller one measuring 6.25"W x 5.75"D x 23.25"H and the smaller one 6.25"W x 5.75"D; they can up to a 5'5"D candle. The set is in very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks and each holder is signed on the underside. Gorgeous! #4653RM
These candlesticks embody a minimalist and geometric aesthetic, typical of the modern abstract style often found in home and office decor. While specific to individual interpretation, the hourglass shape commonly symbolizes the passage of time possibly representing concepts of unity, wholeness, or balance within that timeframe. Featuring a distinctive hourglass-like shape, each candlestick has two triangular or pyramid forms, one inverted on top of the other, connected by a central black vertical "column". A sphere is positioned where the two triangular forms meet, resembling the "waist" of an hourglass. A very nice piece for any post modern enthusiast.
