An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Victorian English cast sterling silver taper candlesticks; an addition of our ornamental silverware collection
These exceptional antique Victorian cast sterling silver taper candlesticks have a plain classical English form.
The cylindrical capitals are encircled with bands of tooled decoration and retain the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconces.
The waisted section of each column features a plain panelled quatrefoil shaped knop.
These Victorian taper candlesticks have quatrefoil shaped stepped bases with central plain sunken wells.
Each taper candlestick does not have a weighted base.
Condition
These solid silver taper candlesticks are an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each base and full hallmarks to the sleeve of each sconce are all very clear; the full hallmarks to the base of one candlestick has wear in keeping with age, but remains clear and legible.

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver taperstick has a circular rounded form with a shaped figural column.
The cylindrical capital of this antique silver taper candlestick is encircled with moulded girdles, in addition to a shaped scalloped chased decorated border to the rim; the capital surmounts a lobed floral petal style drip pan.
The exceptional cast sterling silver column has been modelled in the form of a Harlequin.
This impressive figural column surmounts a domed circular shaped base ornamented with chased scrolling leaf and floral ornamentation.

An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Victorian English sterling silver candlesticks; an addition of our ornamental silverware collection.
These exceptional antique English sterling silver candlesticks have a baluster shaped form.
The inverted pear shaped capitals are embellished with impressive flat engraved scrolling leaf and floral ornamentation.
The capitals retain the original detachable push fit sconces with further flat engraved decoration to the upper surface and a plain paralleling border to the undulating shaped rim.
The upper portion of the baluster shaped column features an undulating knop embellished with simplified scrolling leaf designs.
The bulbous portion of each lobed column is ornamented with an inverted design to that of the capital and surmounts a second undulating knop.
These decorative columns surmount domed shaped bases embellished with further flat engraved ornamentation, each incorporating the contemporary engraved initial 'L' to one side.
These Victorian silver candlesticks have filled bases and are fitted with baize to the underside.
