An exceptional, fine and impressive set of four of antique George V English sterling silver piano candlesticks; an addition to our antique silverware collection.
These exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V sterling silver piano candlesticks have a cylindrical form onto a square spreading base.
The Corinthian capital of each retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconce, ornamented with an embossed bead decorated border to the rim.
The capitals are supported by a classic column, encircled with vertical fluted decoration.
The lower portion of each column features a plain rounded knop to a spreading square base.
The surface of the bases are each ornamented with embossed scrolling leaf and stylised bud swag designs.
The rims are encompassed with bead decoration above further fluted designs, reflecting that of the column.
Each of these impressive sterling silver piano candle holders have weighted bases and bear green baize coverings to the undersides.

Each candlestick is marked on the bottom with the VMC insignia and the model number 3017. The candlesticks measure approximately 10 3/4 inches tall and the base measures 5 1/2 inches at its widest.
BIOGRAPHY OF MANUFACTURER
Virginia Metalcrafters (VM) was founded in 1895 as the W. J. Loth Stove Company of Waynesboro, Virginia. VM initially manufactured cast iron stoves and wood and coal heaters. In 1938 William Loth installed a brass foundry and Virginia Metalcrafters became the brand name of the company’s brass and iron giftware line.
