About the Item
Set of five 1950s German candle holders featuring gold-chrome metalwork with a distinctive Brutalist aesthetic. Each piece showcases the movement's characteristic geometric composition—round bulbous base, cylindrical stem with spherical accent, and conical candle cup. These sculptural objects exemplify the bold architectural forms that defined Brutalist design during its prominence between the 1950s and 1970s, emphasising stark geometric elements arranged in a harmonious yet striking configuration.
The candleholders sit on three interspersed feet which are attached to an aluminium plate on the underside. The large spike indicates that they're designed for large Church candles.
I good vintage condition with some surface scratches and age related wear and tear to the gold-chrome in places. Two candleholders have been cleaned in the past quite rigorously resulting in the darker metal underneath showing through.
