About the Item

Beautiful set of Art Deco candelabras in pewter by Edvin Ollers made at his own workshop in Stockholm in 1929. Both pieces are stamped "Ollers" and the yearmark "C8" referring to 1929. Edvin Ollers, originally Olsson, born March 28, 1888 in Norrtälje, died December 2, 1959 in Hedvig Eleonora parish, Stockholm, was a Swedish artist and designer. Along with his artistic work, Edvin Ollers came to work with design in many different materials. He became one of the first Swedish art industry designers. As a teacher and art educator, he was an aesthetic educator. In 1919, Gotthard Johansson described him as one of the most thoroughly cultivated artists. One of his great interests was studying the museums' older collections and their design language. This is reflected in his design, which bears clear traces of older Swedish traditions Among his public art can be mentioned the altarpiece in Jakob's church, Stockholm's burial chapel, the altarpiece in Hyltebruk's church and a secco painting in Katarina's church. He is represented at the National Museum in Stockholm, the Modern Museum in Stockholm, the Statens museum for Kunst in Copenhagen and several county museums. Furthermore, he is represented at the Nordic Museum in Stockholm, Stockholm City Museum, Upplandsmuseet in Uppsala, Uppsala Art Museum, Röhsska konstslöjdmuseetin Gothenburg, Småland Museum/Swedish Glass Museum/Kulturpark in Växjö, Kulturen in Lund, Östergötland County Museum in Linköping, Norrköping Art Museum, Jönköping county museum, Glasets Hus in Limmared, Malmöhus, Kalmar art museum and The Glass Factory, Boda glasbruk.
