About the Item

A striking true pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu and white Carrara marble candlesticks. Each richly detailed candlestick is raised by a square Ormolu base and socle displaying finely reeded wrap around bands. The circular fluted white Carrara marble central columns support the Ormolu figures above. Each figure is draped in wonderfully executed flowing garment while holding an urn with flowers. The fine stems are accented with beautiful leaves and most elegant floral candle cups. All original gilding throughout.
