This small wooden vessel from 19th century Tibet expresses the quiet beauty of humble objects. Used as a mortar or everyday container, the wooden form is carved from a single block of pinewood with a baluster shape and finely etched lines. The rustic vessel has developed a fantastic texture with age, marked with fine splits and knots yet smooth to the touch. Traces of green pigment to the base.
