A striking antique maritime lantern from the Meteorite Lamp Company, England, bearing its original maker's crest and brass plaque marked “METEORITE 50811.” This large-scale lantern is constructed from durable metal and finished in a faux copper paint that has developed a rich, distressed patina with appealing wear and surface texture from years of use.
The lantern features a thick, clear Fresnel-style lens, designed to amplify and project light efficiently over long distances at sea. Each candlestick begins as hand-sculpted components which are used to create moulds in different sizes. These highly original, eye-catching candlesticks come in different sizes depending on the number of blocks.
The candlesticks are cast in bio-resin with 30% recycled components and Jesmonite mixed with pigment at the start of the process, to ensure color consistency. Some of the candlesticks are subtly finished with hand painted gold patina to reflect the shimmer of the candle. Each one is made with a solid brass drip catcher and can be cast in a variety of colors.
