About the Item

Rare example of a highly decorative 1800s antique Swedish mora clock with stunning hand-painted detailing to the finish. This original early 1800s mora clock has a beautiful face with a clean patina, elaborate crown, very Fine hand-painted decorated patterns on the body, Gold gilt style embellishments and a petite base. It also features an unusual grille pendulum viewing port in gold relief. The clock body is distressed as befits its age and has the usual wood movement found in clocks of this age. the clock is sold 'as is' : as a decorative piece only with the original mechanism and pendulum but not guaranteed to be in working order - If you want it working we can fit a professional hi torque battery mechanism for time keeping ( +£295) or you can have a great sounding chiming mech which replays the recorded chime through a small speaker with a volume control and 8 hour night off switch (+£395) The mech change/shipping prep takes approximate 18-21 days prior to collection please note - wood is a live substance and may change shape when it moves to a new environment with a different median temperature and humidity after shipping. This may cause splits to occur in panels after the clock has grown accustomed to its new home
