About the Item

Original 19th-century Swedish Mora clock dated 1823, crafted from pine with its original blue and faded red painted finish. Exceptional carved details include fluted base, ribbon, tulip, diamonds, and dentil molding. Distressed surface reveals layers of paint and natural pine beneath. Age-related cracks appear throughout, especially along the base, sides, and door frame. Large clock face with original hands remains intact. The longcase has been restored and is stable; clockworks do not function, though all original parts are included. The monogram “MLS and END” suggests the piece was a commissioned wedding gift in 1823. All scratches, cracks, dings, and age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this remarkable clock. Old repair seen along back base.
