About the Item
Grandfather clock, case design attr. to Michael Niedermoser, copper work by Georg Klimt, circa 1900
technique: solid oak case, stained and limed; copper mounts, chased and patinated; weight-driven movement with one-month duration; half-hour striking on a gong rod
This elegant grandfather clock combines the finest Viennese watchmaking craftsmanship with high-quality metal design. The case, clearly structured by its vertical alignment, was designed by Michael Niedermoser, while the artistic appliqués are the work of Georg Klimt.
The metalwork impresses with its precision, stylized forms, and harmonious restraint. The clock has a monthly movement and chimes every half hour. An exemplary interplay of technology, design, and artistic ambition.
