About the Item

A stunning original antique French gilt bronze clock by Samuel Marti. Beautifully made in he Rococo style, formed of sinuous curves of acanthus and scrolls, pieced to allow the pendulum to be glimpsed gently swinging within. Applied motifs and a gadrooned urn complete the design. The dial is porcelain enamel on copper with blued steel hands. The French movement is of high quality and is by Samuel Marti. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. We have a video of the clock, please ask and we will send you a link. Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration. The dial is also excellent with no damage. There are a few light scratches on the original glass. Samuel Marti clockmaker's mark on the movement backplate Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
