About the Item

A elegant and high quality French 19th century Louis XV st. Belle Epoque Period Ormolu and patinated Bronze clock, signed by Raingo Freres. This stunning clock is signed by Raingo Freres and cast by Henri Picard, while being raised on an oblong and tapered base decorated with foliate scrolls. At the bottom center is a foliate reserve below the fitted white enameled dial with Roman numerals and displaying the Raingo Freres signature. The dial is surrounded by a berried laurel bezel flanked by draped floral garlands tied at the top by a ribbon. Above is a charming patinated Bronze cherub laying on a naturalistic landscape and a draped in a garment while admiring the blossoming flowers beneath him. Exceptionally executed with stunning gilding and patinated finish. *Available with matching candlesticks to create a garniture set, item #15040, sold separately. Raingo Fréres, established in 1813 in Paris, specialized in the high precision clock making and bronze work during the Empire and the Restoration period. Raingo is associated with many exquisite models of clocks and many of these designs were patented. They frequently worked in partnership with very prestigious cabinetmakers in particular François Linke.
