Rare and highly decorative 19th-century clock in the form of a tortoise, finely crafted in gilt metal (possibly silver-gilt) and enamelled with exquisite scenes from Greek mythology. Both the exterior and interior are richly adorned with delicate hand-painted enamel work, demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship. The tortoise opens to reveal the clock mechanism, which is in perfect working condition, and features a repeater function on demand, chiming the hours and quarters. Comes with its original winding key. This unique collector’s piece originates from an important Spanish aristocratic private collection. Dimensions: Height: 2.4 in (6 cm) Width: 5.5 in (14 cm) Depth: 3.5 in (9 cm) Condition: Excellent condition. Fully functional with all enamel surfaces beautifully preserved. Includes original key.
