Aaron Lufkin Dennison
He was an American Watchmaker. A pioneer in industrial watch manufacturing, an inventor, and the founder of several companies. Aaron L. Dennison, was born in Freeport, Maine, he was the son of Andrew Dennison, a boot and shoemaker, who was also a music teacher. From an early age, Aaron was interested in mass production, and from the age of 18 to about 27 he was an apprentice in various divisions of jewelry and watch repair, and manufacturing. One of the first companies he created, was a company that made paper boxes for jewelry, under the supervision of his younger brother, Eliphalet Dennison, became the Dennison Manufacturing Company. It operated under that name from until 1990 when it merged with Avery International Corporation and became Avery Dennison. One of the last businesses he started in 1862, was located in Birmingham England. It was very successful and continued in operation until 1967, under various names including Dennison, Wigley
Company, named to include his partner Alfred Wigley, who joined him in 1879. Franklin Dennison, Aaron's son, became a partner in the firm after his father died. The company was renamed, The Dennison Watch Case Company, 10 years after Aaron's death. It was in operation until 1967.
Guilloché
