About the Item

Louis XVI period, circa 1780, signed on the dial "Segaud in Paris," a watchmaker mentioned in Tardy's dictionary of French watchmakers. The architecture is of white and black marble with four columns arranged in an equal pattern of square and round forms. Complete authenticity, no alterations. Original gold plating. Winding key and balance wheel. Original mechanism without modification, wire suspension, hour and half-hour strike on old bell.
