About the Item

A fine French 19th century Louis XVI st. white Carrara marble and Ormolu pedestal/clock. This wonderful pedestal clock is raised by square tapered Ormolu legs ending with a toupie shaped sabots. The square white Carrara marble body displays corner blocks decorated by oval foliate rosettes. At the center front is a richly decorated enameled dial with swaging floral garlands. The clock face is surrounded by two berried laurel branches at the bottom while at the top are two tied floral garlands. The display platform above is fitted by a square Ormolu trim with a circular intertwined motif. All original gilding throughout. *Shown with statue item# 15121 for display purposes, sold separately.

A charming and high quality French early 19th century Empire st. white Carrara marble and Ormolu clock, signed Veibel a Lyon. This stunning clock is raised on Ormolu topie shaped feet supporting a rectangular marble base. The base is decorated with finely chased Ormolu plaques on three sides, in the manner of Clodion, and with delicate beaded frames. Standing on the base are four Ormolu Doric columns leading up to the Carrara marble entablature decorated with Ormolu pegasi and finely chased beaded trim bands. From the entablature hangs the enameled clock face and mechanism, adorned with a delicate Ormolu frame and richly chased hanging drapery featuring a foliate movements, mythical creatures, and a lovely female mask atop the wonderful sunburst pendulum.
