About the Item

Table clock, design Carlo SCARPA for VENINI. Blown glass beaten at the grindstone, Clock movement Tavannes. ORIGIN Italy PERIOD circa 1936 AUTHOR Carlo SCARPA (Venice, 1906 - Sendai, 1978) was an Italian architect and designer deeply connected to glassmaking. His long collaboration with the Venini glassworks, which began in the 1920s, formed the core of his creative language: in the furnaces of Murano he experimented with colors, textures and techniques that allowed him to develop a unique sensitivity to materials, light and details. This artisanal approach became the hallmark of his architecture, evident in works such as the Museo di Castelvecchio, the Querini Stampalia, and the Brion Tomb. Always attentive to detail, Scarpa combined tradition and modernity with an almost calligraphic touch. His experience with Venini remained the foundation of his design poetics. MARK VENINI Murano.
