About the Item

A travel-desk clock designed by Wright Davies. This is a gorgeous travel-desk clock created in London England at the workshops of Wright Davies, back in 1899. The fabulous clock has been crafted during the late Victorian period in solid .925/.999 sterling silver with high polished finish. It was made up with elegant neo-gothic cathedral shape with very clean lines and embellished with engine turned guilloche, topped with dark green glass enamel. It is fitted at the reverse with a hidden door with a three barrels hinge. Wright Davies The company was founded by William Frederick Wright Frederick Davies. They established there mark in 1895 and worked out of their already established workshops in Oxford Street London. They were known for smaller silver items such as belts, cigarette cases, clock cases, vestas amongst many other objects. Movement: Swiss, mechanical hand wingding and signed LTC 2748 SWISS MADE. Dial: Round in white porcelain with Arabic black numerals and gilt Breguet hands. Country: London England. Period: Late Victorian, 1899. Maker: Wright Davies (William Frederick Wright) Weight: 379.5 Grams, (243.27 Dwt). Measurements: 48 mm by 39 mm by 83 mm (1.88 x 1.55 x 3.27 Inches). Hallmarks: The case is stamped with British crown marks, the lionhead mark for the city of London, the maker's mark WFW associated to Wright Davies, the mark for the assay and warranty of the .925/.999, the letter d for the date of 1899 and signed as follows, "WFW d P. P. No 5935 LTC 2748 SWISS MADE". Collateral: This clock is accompanied by the original fitted presentation leather box. Condition: The overall condition of this Wright Davies clock is excellent. Besides the little normal wear, there is no damage to the silver. All parts are secured in their settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
