About the Item

This vintage mid 19th century French Louis XV style cartel (wall) clock is beautifully designed. The dramatic sculpted bronze large clock is decorated with sweeping scrolled leaves floral vines that dominate its appearance. A cream color enamel face with Roman numerals distinct second markers are visible behind a hinged bronze framed curved clear glass door. Prominently displayed on the clock face, the words NORA NANCY, are found below the XII above the VI, respectively. The clock has a keywind/French bell movement with the original key pendulum. This clock runs, but will require a cleaning &/or service to keep accurate time.

This impressive example of an early 20th century French Rococo palace size clock set comes from the prestigious E. Colin & Cie of Paris foundry. The sculpted ensemble is detailed with crisp elaborate scrolling accented with a full figure cupid with quiver atop the clock. The clock & candelabras are decorated in a brilliant gold doré' finish.
