About the Item

Ashtray with ceramic and brass lighter by Paolo Traversi. 1970s, working Paolo Traversi is a designer and manufacturer of interior furnishings known throughout the world. His activity as a designer and manufacturer began in 1945 and his products were sold by the main auction houses Dimensions ashtray Diameter cm 24 Hight cm 8 Dimensions lighter Diameter cm 10 Hight cm 10 About the style of the 70s: It was a transition period between mid-century modernity and post-modernism. Clean lines and soft curves, with a neutral color palette in the design, as well as the minimalist approach to modernism in architecture, with a cold facade and an austere interior, were ultimately rejected. The 1970s saw a shift in design towards something more authentic, more personal, messier, with character, organic shapes and retro inspiration. Situated on the edge of two eras, the style of the 70s no longer follows the momentum of the 60s with its futuristic outlook, but has not had time to mature into a defined set of characteristics. However, it has not had time to mature and acquire well-defined characteristics. It is also a mistake to overlook his contributions to architecture, furniture design and interiors.
