Elegant Antique Victorian Rosewood Ladies Writing Slope With Inlaid Brass Red Leather Interior With Brass Swing Carry Handles Finished With A Tooled Red Leather Interior Circa 1880 Item will include new notepad pad, Quill pen (modern), Fountain pen and one glass inkwell and a lockable key. Calendar shown for illustrative purposes. Exquisite Gift For The Writing Enthusiast. Antique lap desks had hinged writing surfaces, often covered in leather, felt, or other material, that flip up to reveal storage space for papers. Individual compartments were designed to hold inkwells, pens, sealing wax, and other contemporary writing materials. Some desks also had concealed storage compartments.
