French Inkwell with Sheaf of Grain Decoration, signed "Frecourt"

Description:
A compact French inkwell cast in gilded metal, designed in a softly contoured trefoil shape. At the center sits a raised mount holding the original glass inkwell, closed by a hinged lid featuring a medallion in low relief. The surrounding decoration consists of a symmetrically arranged sheaf of grain – most likely wheat – rendered in fine detail with clearly articulated ears and husks. Two curved pen rests are integrated into the base, harmoniously blending into the ornamental surface.

The piece is signed "Frecourt", referring to the designer of this finely crafted object. The use of wheat as a motif draws on allegorical traditions of fertility, agricultural labor, and harvest. The combination of symbolic ornament and refined gilding suggests it was made for a representative or institutional setting.
