About the Item
English Regency patinated bronze and ormolu double inkwell. Set upon a rectangular base with mercury gilt ormolu moulding of "stiff leaf and dart" design. The inkwell holder itself, a vertical rectangle of patinated bronze designed as a wall with courses of bricks. The inset lid of bronze doré with Anthemion patterns and crested with a fine dolphin, cast in bronze, well finished and then patinated. The dolphin lying on its body with his tail up. Two original porcelain inkwells (one with chipped lip) and two quill holders.
