About the Item

An elegant French 19th century Charles X st. patinated bronze, ormolu and Sienna marble inkwell. The inkwell is raised by a rectangular Sienna marble base. The pedestal displays an elongated octagonal ormolu support with a beautiful acanthus leaf socle shaped design. The body displays a most decorative reeded design below beautiful grape leaves, grape clusters and a fine egg and dart pattern at the rim. The removable lid displays a striking fluted floral bud finial amidst a foliate backplate. The lid removes to reveal the inkwell and pen holders. All original gilt and patina throughout.
