About the Item

A charming and most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. Sèvres Porcelain and ormolu inkwell, stamped, P.C.G. The inkwell is raised by Fine fluted bun shaped feet below the beautiful wrap around ormolu gallery. The gallery displays a wonderfully executed pierced baluster design, a lovely twisted rope and charming inverted hearts. At the center is the original blue velvet tier decorated with striking ormolu stars and finely chased pierced ormolu reserves of flying cherubs amidst foliate designs. Above, the elegantly shaped Sèvres Porcelain vessel displays a beautiful array of wonderfully executed hand painted flowers with vivid colors. A tied fluted band extends around the rim with the lid above decorated with Fine ormolu leaves which opens to reveal the original removable fitted porcelain interior. All original gilt throughout.
