About the Item

This rare Louis XV–style inkwell by François Linke (1855–1946) is crafted in Chinese lacquer and finely cast gilt bronze. Known as one of the most important Parisian cabinetmakers of his time, Linke is celebrated for the exceptional quality of his work, which is clearly reflected in this elegant piece. The inkwell features beautifully chased Rococo-style bronze decoration with flowing curves and refined detailing. The lacquered top is signed “F. Linke” on the underside, while the bronze mounts are monogrammed “MB,” the founder’s mark, confirming its authenticity. The contrast between the deep lacquer surface and the bright gilded bronze creates a striking and harmonious effect. Ideal for furnishing a Louis XV writing desk or a collector’s interior, this inkwell is presented in very good condition and remains both decorative and functional.
